Air Quality

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has provided a scale called the Air Quality Index (AQI) for rating air quality. The AQI scale is based on the National Ambient Air Quality Standards.

Air Quality: Good 0-50
Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Enjoy the outdoors.

Air Quality: Moderate 51-100
Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Unusually sensitive people should limit outdoor exertion.

Air Quality: Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups 101-150
Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Active children and adults and people with Respiratory Disease, such as ASTHMA, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion. No more than 15 minutes of outdoor activity during the school day.

Air Quality: Unhealthy 151-200
Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Sensitive groups and all others, especially children, should limit outdoor exertion to no more than 10 minutes of outdoor activity during the school day.

Air Quality: Very Unhealthy 201-300
Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Sensitive groups should avoid all outdoor exertion; all others, especially children should limit outdoor exertion. No outside activity should be planned for Coppell ISD students or staff.

Appropriate Health Considerations/Actions: Everyone should avoid all outdoor activity.
