Accountability Ratings Explanation

Texas Performance Reporting System (TPRS)

  • The Texas Performance Reporting System (TPRS) is the most comprehensive state academic accountability report published by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). The TPRS combines information previously released in the state accountability reports, the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and the School Report Card (SRC). It also includes results for student groups not previously reported on the previously noted reports. Most data are available at the campus, district, region, and state level. The TPRS provides performance and participation assessment results for the following student groups:

    • Economically Disadvantaged/Non-Economically Disadvantaged
    • Male/Female
    • Special Education/Non-Special Education
    • At Risk/Non-At Risk
    • Migrant/Non-Migrant
    • English Language Learners (ELLs)
    • Career and Technical Education (CTE)/Non-CTE
    • Bilingual Education/English as a Second Language

Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR)

  • The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics. Typically, the TAPR report is usually released each January for the preceding school year.

School Report Cards

  • School Report Cards (SRC) are produced annually-usually in the winter-for each Texas public school campus by the Texas Education Agency. Information included in a campus School Report Card: Accountability Rating, Campus Distinction Designations, School and Student Information, School Financial Information, STAAR Outcomes, Prior-Year Non-Proficient and Student Success Initiative Outcomes (Elementary and Middle Schools), and Graduation and College, Career, and Military Readiness Outcomes (High Schools).
