- 2022-2023 COVID Protocols
-
Last updated 8/10/22
The district will continue monitoring the pandemic and will adjust protocols to ensure the safety of our students and staff while complying with the legal parameters the district must follow. Coppell ISD will continue to provide a safe learning environment for all our students and staff. Since this is an ever-changing situation, CISD may need to make changes to these and other protocols based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Texas Education Agency (TEA) and/or Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS).
-
Positive COVID-19 Cases
- Parents are required to report confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 to the campus or their supervisor.
- According to state law, a student having or suspected of having COVID-19 must not come to campuses/buildings. The student cannot return until the readmission criteria for COVID-19 is met, which is:
-
- For children with symptoms, at least 5 days have passed since symptom onset, and fever free, and other symptoms have improved.
- Children who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms must stay home until at least 5 days after the day they were tested.
- Parents must ensure they do not send a child to school on campus if the child has COVID-19 symptoms or is test-confirmed with COVID-19, until the conditions for re-entry are met.
- Campus nurses and the district Nurse Coordinator will report positive student and staff cases to DCHHS.
-
Daily Self Screening
- All staff and students are encouraged to self-screen for COVID symptoms and should not come to school if they are ill. It is essential that students and staff not enter campuses or buildings if they are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness.

Safety Protocols and Preventative Strategies - Cleaning
- Campuses and buildings will continue to be cleaned and disinfected using protocols by our custodial vendor Aramark. This will include concentrated cleaning at high-touch areas and disinfecting surfaces regularly.
- Durham Transportation will continue to clean buses using COVID protocols. This includes cleaning buses after each route.
- The ventilation and air system in CISD brings in fresh air into classrooms as a mitigation protocol.
- At the Aug. 23, 2021, School Board Meeting, CISD Trustees approved purchasing air purifiers for all learning spaces and classrooms. The 900 air purifiers include a UV-C disinfection and will provide three levels of filtration including prefilter, H13 HEPA Filter which catches 99.9% of particles to 0.1 microns, and an activated carbon filter. The ozone free high-efficiency air filtration units coupled with the germicidal disinfectant will greatly enhance air cleaning.
-
Mental Health Supports and Employee Wellness
- CISD counselors are available to support students academically, socially and emotionally.
- CISD support counselors are also available to provide assistance for students and employees.
