• District Awards for Teaching Excellence

     
    Coppell Independent School District has been awarded a grant to implement a non-competitive program aimed at narrowing student performance gaps and improving student achievement. This state funded program, available to all school districts for 2011-2012, is called District Awards For Teacher Excellence, commonly referred to as D.A.T.E. Based on district data, the subject of mathematics was chosen for this school year. CISD mathematics teachers, meeting the eligibility requirements, may receive fiscal awards based on school-wide and/or district-wide student achievement and growth.
     
    The grant is comprised of two parts or two pools of funds:
     
    PART ONE
    • At least 60 percent of the grant must be used to award classroom teachers who positively impact student academic improvement and/or growth
    • Utilize criteria to measure individual teacher and/ or group/team impact on student achievement
    • Minimum awards must be no less than $1,000 per teacher

    PART TWO

    Up to 40 percent of the district award can be used for other allowable activities including:

    • Stipends and awards for teachers
    • Professional development
    • Increasing local data capabilities to support instruction and accountability
    • Communications costs
    • Travel costs for state required grant implementation training.
