2023 Summer Learning for Learners Served through ESL or DLI

KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE IN 2023-2024
- The district provides a summer school opportunity at no cost to learners who are classified an English Learner who are currently served through English as a Second Language (ESL) or Bilingual (DLI) who were in grades PK and Kindergarten during the 2022-2023 school year (rising Kindergartners and First Graders in the 2023-2024 school year).
- Elementary Summer School instruction will target vocabulary and comprehension development.
- Elementary Summer School is by invitation only. Students who qualify will receive a packet from their school.
- Programming will be June 5 - June 29 from 7:45 - 3:45, Monday - Thursday
- Bus transportation will be provided for Summer School for families who indicate on the invitation form they want/need bus transportation. Families will need to indicate which elementary school their learner(s) should be picked up/dropped off from. Neighborhood routes are not available. Prior to the start of Summer School, families will receive an email with information on pickup/drop off times. If you have questions regarding summer transportation, please call 214-496-8078 or email transportation@coppellisd.com.

- The district provides a summer school opportunity at no cost to learners who are classified as Emergent Bilingual and are served through ESL or Bilingual programming, and who were in grades PK and Kindergarten during the 2022-2023 school year.
- Elementary Summer School is by invitation only.
- Programming will be June 5 - June 29 from 7:45 - 3:45, Monday - Thursday
- This programming will take place at Wilson Elementary.
- Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.
- Bus transportation will be provided for Summer School. Once your child is signed up for Summer School, you will receive an email with information on pickup/drop off times and locations.

2023 Summer Bridge

CISD is offering summer learning opportunities for learners in 1st - 7th grade in 2022-2023 school year. Attendance at Summer Bridge is by invitation only. Campus principals will invite students to attend based on academic needs.
Transportation will not be provided.
Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase.

2023 Secondary Summer School for Credit Recovery

CISD is offering opportunities for credit recovery for learners enrolled in high school credit courses during the 2022-2023 school year for which they earned a failing grade. Summer school will be in person and summer school educators will be present to provide support as learners work through the online curriculum. This year Coppell ISD is one session for credit recovery and will be held at CHS 9 Monday - Thursday from June 5th-June 29th. Learners will be required to attend class daily from 8:30 am - 3:15 pm with a lunch break from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm.
Learners must bring their Coppell ISD issued device everyday in order to access the online curriculum (iPad for CHS9 and CHS learners, MacBook for NTH@C learners).
Learners should work with their campus counselors to determine which courses to prioritize when enrolling in summer school (ELAR and Mathematics courses will be prioritized first).
COST: There are fees for summer school that need to be paid through school pay using the link in the summer school information/registration tab.
The fees are as follows:
1 semester (A or B) (For Example: Biology B - second semester) = $175
2 semesters (A & B) (For Example: Biology B and English II A) = $250Additional courses (semester A or B) may be purchased for $50 with administrator approval after the completion of the first two courses.
No One Should Pay More Than $250 in the Initial Summer School Registration Window.
Learners receiving free/reduced lunch have a different pay scale. Please contact Mary Kemper at mkemper@coppellisd.com for more information. Do NOT use the link below to pay for CISD Summer School if your learner receives free/reduced lunch.
NOTE: We no longer offer physical education, government, economics, precalculus, or a third year of foreign language during summer school for original credit.

Secondary Credit Recovery Summer School hours are 8:30 am - 3:15 pm.
- AM classes: 8:30 am - 11:30 am
- Lunch Break for Learners and Staff: 11:30 am - 12:15 pm
- PM classes: 12:15 pm - 3:15 pm
- Learners are required to attend both AM and PM classes in order to finish their course work.
- All learners will be required to take a prescriptive test to determine where they start in their course. This test will be given on the first day of class, June 5, 2023.
- Learners must bring their Coppell ISD issued device everyday in order to access the online curriculum (iPad for CHS9 and CHS learners, MacBook for NTH@C learners).
- The Elementary Summer School and Middle School Summer Bridge schedules differ from the Secondary Credit Recovery Summer School schedule.
