Board Briefs

The Board Administered the Statement of Officer and Oath of Office  to newly elected Board Members Nichole Bentley (Place 6) and Trustee Tracy Fisher (Place 7).  

Board Action and Consent Items Highlights:

• Trustees approved the Superintendent’s recommendation of Joseph Smith, current Assistant Principal of CMS West, as the New Tech High @ Coppell Principal; 
• The Board approved to rescind the Resolution previously passed on December 14, 2020, regarding the continuation of certain emergency paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) for eligible employees effective June 30, 2021;
• Trustees approved to award the RFP for Milk and Juice to the recommended supplier and the Groceries, Staples, and Disposable items to the recommended supplier for the Prospering Pals Food Purchasing Cooperative, and its Member Districts; 
• The Board approved a TEA CPR Instruction Waiver for the 2020-2021 school year;  
• Trustees voted to elect Trustee Nichole Bentley as Board President, Trustee Leigh Walker as Board Vice President and Trustee Manish Sethi as Board Secretary; and
• The Board approved the Budget Amendments for May 2021 and the Board of Trustees Financial Report for April 2021 and the April 2021 Financials.

During the Awards portion of the meeting, Trustees recognized:

• Campus Teachers of the Year
• District Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year
• Retiring Public Information Officer Tamerah Ringo for her behind the scenes work on the Teacher of the Year recognition program

Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt provided a 2021-2022 Back to School Update, including the applications for the proposed Virtual Academy and the Governor’s proclamation regarding public school districts and masks. 

Athletics and Fine Arts Update
Athletic Director Kit Pehl and Coordinator of Fine Arts Gerry Miller shared an update on Athletics and Fine Arts participation and success for the district.

Business Partnerships and Revenue Generation
Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement Angela Brown shared an update on business partnerships and revenue generation.
