Melissa Arnold Chosen as New Principal of CMS East

During the June 6 Board Workshop, CISD Trustees approved Melissa Arnold as the new Principal of CMS East.

Arnold has worked in CISD for almost the entirety of her educational career, which she began as an English teacher at Coppell High School in 2005. She taught English for eight years, which includes six years at CHS and two years in Florida, prior to becoming an assistant principal at CHS in 2013. Arnold was promoted to the position of Associate Principal for Learning and Teaching in 2017 and has served in that leadership role for five years.

Arnold received her Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Language Arts from New Mexico State University and her Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.  She and her husband, Blake, have a daughter Makayla, and live in Coppell.

“Mrs. Arnold is a steadfast leader and a consummate professional, who brings a wealth of professional experience and commitment to serve our kids, our teachers and our families,” said CISD Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt. “I have had the privilege of watching her grow throughout her entire educational career in CISD, and I know she has a huge heart for our kids and our teachers, and she works tirelessly to give students and educators what they need to thrive.”

Dr. Hunt added, “As a recent CMS East parent, she knows the important role our families play in partnering with our schools to educate our children. She understands the culture at CMS East and values the important role relationships play in the success of this special campus. I know she will be an exceptional principal for CMS East, and I look forward to seeing all that CMS East will achieve under her leadership.”

Arnold said, “I am blessed beyond belief and so excited for the opportunity to lead CMS East and continue in the legacy of what makes the school so special, while also working with the team of educators and staff to establish new traditions to enhance the family atmosphere and caring culture at East. I have learned so much from leaders in this district, including the last three years with Laura Springer, and I cannot wait to get started at CMS East!”
