    Dear Parents, Families & Friends,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our children on August 27th, and are excited about the year ahead. Lakeside is an exemplary campus in an exceptional community. Congratulations to all of our students and teachers for their dedication to excellence and thank you to our parents for the support you provide us.

As you prepare for the upcoming school year I want to be sure you are aware of some important events and timelines.

August 22nd – All parents are required to supply a copy of a current July or August electric bill and update the CISD portal account before the child’s teacher assignment will be released. Please update your portal account before coming on August 22nd. Once you have completed the forms and new year paperwork, class assignments will be distributed. Please come during the time that corresponds to your last name. A-L: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and M-Z: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

August 23rd – Please join us for: Meet the Teacher night from 5:00-6:00pm followed by a PTO family picnic (if our Texas heat isn’t too bad).

August 27th – Our first day!!! We will see you bright and early. Remember all students must be seated in class at 7:50 am. Students can start arriving at 7:30 am. Please do not bring them any earlier than 7:30 because we will not have staff available to monitor them. Updates regarding morning arrival and afternoon dismissal will be available at Meet the Teacher night.

August 28, 29 & 30 –We will have Early Release Days for our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. Our teachers will use this time to administer beginning of the year assessments. Students in grade K-2 will be released at 12:00pm. If you are unable to pick up your child at this time we will provide activities for them while they wait for testing. If your child stays they will then be released at 3:05pm.

September 3rd – We will observe Labor Day and classes will not be in session.

We can’t wait for 2012-2013 to begin. Our teachers are starting to plan for the new school year and are thinking about ways in which to engage all of our students in meaningful learning that will prepare them to be 21st century communicators, collaborators, creators, and critical thinkers. Our theme this year continues to be “Do What You Love and Love What You Do!” We know that our Lakeside students, staff and parents “do what they love” and make every day an extraordinary one. Thank you for being a part of our “Exemplary” community!

    See you soon!
